2023 was a tough year. Even in our 11th year of charity displays we found it tough! The weather was pretty wet from August through to November making for a very wet set up season - which brings its own complications and safety risks - for example - climbing into trees to service some of the lights was a no go. We decommissioned our LED screen to prevent any weather invoked damage but we plan to redesign an easier to install version for 2024 - watch this space...
December's weather itself wasn't much better and we were pretty much constantly addressing water ingress issues. Despite this, we continued to be motivated by the reason for why we exist - CHRIST, CHARITY, COMMUNITY! and we still delivered a high-standard display.
We made a few changes including a twinkle tree to replace the church which got damaged in storage, we also moved our choir to a much better location and also got creative in the arctic scene with the introduction of a snowplough.
The eagle-eyed reader will also notice that our charity partner Marie Curie went under a significant rebrand.
